John was born in North Meols in 1897, the only son of John and Alice Jane (née Jackson) of Gorsuch Farm, Scarisbrick. The Ackers family had been farming at Gorsuch since 1841 and John spent his childhood within the agricultural community. As a young child he lived on Hurlston Green. By 1911 the family had moved to St. Helens and as a 13 year old schoolboy John was living with his parents and younger sister, Alice, at Haresfinch Farm. It is likely that his father was still farming in St. Helens at the beginning of the war as John enlisted in nearby Warrington.

It was Captain George Vancouver, who had the idea and dedicated it to honor his fellow countryman, Alleyne Fitzherbert and Vancouver named the three other volcanoes, Mount Hood, Mount Rainier and Mount Baker for the other British Naval Officers as well. Captain George Vancouver is known as the British Royal Navy, a seafarer and also an explorer.
In 1906, an earthquake hit San Francisco, California. More than 3,000 people died. The earthquake that hit San Francisco was one of the largest earthquakes in northern California. It struck the coast of Northern California. "Horrific Wreck of the City" by Fred Hewitt and “Comprehending the Calamity:” by Emma Burke are both about the same thing but the two authors opinion on how this disaster affected people are completely different.
In the foothills of the Putney Mountains located southwest of Charleston, West Virginia, is a little city, called Howardsville with a dark history. Ernest Cassidy, an elderly man lived in the two-story-house near the foothills was familiar with the myths, legends and lies, involving the city. The townspeople suspected him of being involved, but no one knew to what extent. The mysteries of Putney Mountain began years earlier when several strange and scary events happened and upset the residents of Howardsville leading to the legends, mysteries, and lies, which are still around to this day. For several years, Mr. Cassidy went outside the home only to collect cans and bottles using an old grocery cart.

"It 's a much more compelling argument to rename the mountain here than in Alaska," said Bill Baarsma, former mayor of the city of Tacoma and president of the Tacoma Historical Society.
Wow, this is an amazing sight of beauty. Why is this not a national park? It seems as if we are thinking the same thing. It is visited by hundreds of people every year. I think the government should make this wonderful decision to make the Providence Canyon a national park.

They teach you about all sorts of things like nature,indians, pioneers and who used to live in Larkspur back in the old days. They would like to have a garden because a lot of people do not come there a lot so they would like to have a garden so people can buy some of the flowers and veggies, so more people come to Stone Canyon.
I’m William Dilley, I was camping with neighbors when this tragic event unfortunately happened. We thought we were safe but the big clouds of ashes kept approaching. There were people camping on the other side of us, but unfortunately they didn't make it. Martha is my neighbor and her and I were sent out here to investigate the mountain.
There are many natural disasters that affect the world, for example, volcanoes. Mount St. Helens is known to be the most active volcano in the Cascade Range in Washington; effecting the people and the state. It was first recognized as a volcano in 1835! Before the eruption on May 18,1980, Mount St. Helens was a beautiful symmetrical cone, 3,000 meters above sea level. For most of the 20th century, many people viewed this mountain and recreation area as a beautiful and peaceful place, but after the volcano erupted in 1980 that view point was shattered.

These three catastrophes were the costliest natural disasters in U.S. history.1 Damages accounted for billions of dollars, countless types of critical infrastructure were lost, and thousands of lives were lost. These three hurricanes are examples of natural disasters harming millions of people; however, the United States government itself plays instrumental parts in harming even more American citizens in many natural disasters.
However, the eruption on May 18th was a true surprise. Within minutes, the mountain went from calm and quiet to become one of the greatest powerful natural disaster ever recorded in the U.S-
