The heart wrenching story of Jeanette Walls and her askew family never fails to have an emotional impact on its readers. People have come to have mixed feelings on The Glass Castle; its real world problems tend to leave readers speechless, confused, sad, crying, or even laughing their behinds off. When I read the book I was left with all of those emotions. Overall I thought the book was amazing and really dug deep into Jeanette’s life and I anticipated the release of the movie hitting cinemas on August 11th, 2017. When I first saw the movie I was a little confused as to why so many details were left out from the plot. One part I was especially flustered with that was left out in the movie was the process of Jeanette overcoming adversity and befriending Dinita. I thought that particular section was especially important since it’s really shaped Jeanette’s future and how her dad’s side of the family perceived her. I will credit the movie with being able to give the readers a visual on the characters and their lives. Scene nine of the movie The Glass Castle in comparison to the book was pretty accurate but they did leave out and add in some details. By watching the movie I was able to see and feel the mood a little better with the help of background music and lighting fixtures. One of the details that was added in by filmmakers that really stood out to me was when Robbie dropped the ball that Jeanette was planning a move to New York.
