The 80s was a decade that was very distinct and unique from every other decade. It was the time where everyone evolved to big hair and colorful dressing. Every person experimented with himself or herself and restrictions were getting less strict. It was an age where people changed themselves. But as people change, culture changes along the way.

As for Philippine cinema in the 1980s, this was quite a chaotic time as the country was just freed from dictator Ferdinand Marcos. Movies like Sister Stella L. (1984) were the result of post Marcos regime. Movie directors were freed from the restrictions were finally able to make films they truly wanted. Also, Philippine cinema started to emerge into explicit films. The themes of the movies developed into action and sex. This began mass-produced films, which lead to movies turning into commercial filled as the industry started to thrive.
