I was born in Korea, but I am very thankful for having numerous opportunities especially in America. Even though I struggled many times, I have many remarkable experiences and accomplishments that set me apart. When I first moved to America in my middle school year, I had many complaints toward my parents. However, my attitude changed to gratitude as time passed. As I look back my life, I can boldly share my accomplishments and experiences: graduating with an Advanced Honors Diploma with completion of T.E.A.C.H. program, community services, and Mexico mission trip. I would never have received these great chances if I had not come to America or challenged myself. When I became a high school student, I had a deep sense of purpose to fulfill my goal to become an advocate for the underserved children in my communities. Therefore, I enrolled in the T.E.A.C.H. (Teacher Education Academy at Clark High school) Magnet Academy, where I had a chance to have an internship at an elementary school as a high school student. For example I participated in "Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays" program to help the needy families around me. When I was helping others, I realized I was able to help students who are English Language Learners (ELL) in expanding their English language oral and comprehension skills and used my own past experiences in learning a second language and Total Physical Response (TPR) skills to encourage ELL to improve their English.
