Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a musical prodigy who was born in Austria in 1956. By age six, he was capable of playing multiple instruments. By age 13, he was already an accomplished and successful composer, composing orchestral, symphonic, chamber, and choral music. To this day he is undeniably one of the most well known composers of all time. Mozart's father took him and his brother on European “tours” to various cities, including Paris, London, and Zurich. While in London, Mozart met Johann Christian Bach, the son of Johann Sebastian Bach. He was especially considered an innovative composer for his operas, in the fact that he wrote operas in every genre that existed during his time. He composed for drama, musical theatre, ballets, comedies, and more. This was one of the most impacting innovations of Mozart. Another innovative idea that Mozart proposed in his music was that of homophonic music. Many of his works include a single line melody that has an accompaniment. He also expanded the idea of using a I-V chord progression. These ideas were innovative in the way that they were different than typical Baroque style music, and they greatly impacted Classical music.
