Standing at 5' 11" and 199 pounds, with sparse dark brown hair, and a smile that could light up the sky; one would think Mr. Davis Jones is an average man with an ordinary life and background, but they would be wrong. Without hesitation, Mr. Jones shared his life story with sheer candor. From structure, to struggle, to success, Mr. Jones paved his way to a profitable career in information technology and computer science. Born in the suburbs of Canton, Ohio to working-class parents, early on in life, Mr. Jones displayed above average intelligence excelling especially in math and science. Jones also enjoys the hobbies of building computers and creating electronic prototypes with friends. Interestingly, Mr. Jones has previously built several personal prototypes of some of the smart technology we use today (i.e. smartwatches, artificial intelligent assistants, and remote home-monitoring systems) decades ago. However, recently Mr. Jones has started dabbling in the mobile application development world, designing and developing cross-platform mobile applications (mobile apps that can be used on any mobile device). When asked why he was suddenly interested in developing mobile applications, Mr. Jones responded, “Mobile technology is the future. It always has been. Sure, everything we’re seeing now is smart. Smart technology is everywhere. It’s in our homes, our phones, on your wrist,” as he points to my smartwatch, “A.I. is here, but don’t be dissuaded. Mobile technology, unlike smart technology, isn’t seen as a threat or gimmick. It’s non-threatening, and it’s here to stay.” Mr. Jones’ aptitude for anything involving computers is absolutely incredible. His savant-like abilities allow him to be virtually limitless when computers are concerned. From hardware to software, front-end to back-end, Mr. Jones could have easily chosen any job in the technology field and excelled. Jones often refers to his story as, “The life of a phoenix, rising from the ashes time and again.” In Mr. Jones’ life, he has experienced structure, struggle, and finally success. Heading towards retirement Mr. Jones says he, “regret[s] nothing,” as everything that has happened in his life has led him to where he is today. While illegal hacking isn’t the best method to launching one’s career, it definitely catapulted Mr. Jones’ career in the right direction. Although having known Mr. Jones for several years as a mentor, interviewing Mr. Jones and hearing his life story has been an interesting and exhilarating experience.
