Mr. Harisiadis: What Makes A 3d Printer Unique?

What makes the 3D printer unique is the way in which it produces the final product. When producing a product normally, without a 3D printer, there will always be wasted materials, some of which could not be recycled. This effects the products final prices when they have to incorporate the extra material into the cost of the product. If the material is a type which could be recycled, there are recycling fees they need to pay to the companies which take care of the excess material, in the end incorporating that price into the final price making the consumer take care of that. 3D printers on the other hand do not have any waste or so minimal it could not be measured easily. There is also the speed which the 3D printer contains, rather than waiting …show more content…

John Harisiadis who attends my church who happens to have a degree in computer science software engineering, who is a MS BI developer. Mr. Harisiadis is an educated man who has been involved with the computer world since he received his degree over 35 years ago from UIC. Mr. Harisiadis has help multiple jobs dealing with nothing but technology, all his knowledge is valued by me and believe he will be able to have an accurate opinion on 3D printers. When talking to Mr. Harisiadis about the rapid growth of the 3D printer industry he did agree with my claim, however, his time frame is slightly different then my opinionated one. “I do believe 3D printing technology will help take us to the future. Don’t get me wrong, but this isn’t going to happen overnight, it is going to take 10 to 20 years for the printers to start making a noticeable impact, then from there the printers will make a difference.”(Mr. Harisiadis). After thinking about what Mr. Harisiadis said, the printers are going to impact the world, even though 10 to 20 years appear to be far away, when they do start to impact the world it is going to be huge. I asked Mr. Harisiadis why he felt that timeline would be accurate, his response was “Even though we invented these machines, we still don’t fully understand what they are capable of. Take the first computers, they were around for years until they started making an impact. That is why I believe it will take that long to finally make a difference.” The more Mr. Harisiadis talked the more I would find myself agreeing with him. Even though our time frames are slightly different, we both agree that the 3D printers will be the first steps of taking society to the
