Mrs Hilly's Sympathy For African People

Why help people in different countries, but not your own? Is it to hide a bigger picture, or is it to make you feel like you are making a difference in the world. Mrs.Hilly are you trying to raise your popularity by helping African children whilst hiding the fact that you are cruel to your coloured citizens? It 's human nature to help others, but why so far away, not the ones who need help that are in front of you? Mrs.Hilly tried her hardest to make herself look good by making the coloured maid 's life miserable. During the last two weeks of studies, I question why Mrs.Hilly has sympathy for African children, but cannot find sympathy for African Americans in her own community. Yule Mae and her husband saved up to send their boys to College since they were young but when it was time they were a bit short. Yule Mae asked Mrs.Hilly for a small loan but Mrs.Hilly refused her the loan saying she did it because she was being a good Christian and how she was doing her a favour by not lending her money. In the Bible it states “ Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.” (Matthew 5:42). This is ironic since she helped raise money for poor African children but wouldn 't help a local family in need by giving a loan to Yule Mae. Knowing Yule Mae is seeking money Mrs.Hilly planted a ring in her house worth enough money to help her send her children to college. When Yule Mae found it, she went and pawned it off. The irony in this is that Mrs.Hilly planted it and in doing so when Yule Mae found it and sold it she was arrested for stealing. This proves my point that Mrs.Hilly does anything to make coloured maid 's life miserable and, in theory Mrs.Hilly is contradicting a good christian’s characteristic by denying Yule Mae Davis’s request that Mrs.Hilly
