In the thought provoking play, Much Ado About Nothing, a character named Don John displayed very unchristian like thoughts and actions. Throughout the play, Don John became a very jealous individual, this led him to lie multiple times, and demonstrate a dastard attitude. Don John claims himself as a trouble maker, and he doesn`t fail to disappoint. Many main characters such as Hero, Claudio, and Don Pedro were greatly affected by Don John’s deceptive plots. By making no efforts to change his displeasing habits, Don John creates unnecessary jealously, deceitfulness and a finally a fleeing coward. The ideas Don John puts into action make a displeasing individual.
Firstly, Don John exhibits envious acts of jealously. He does this because he is resentful of his half-brother Don Pedro. This leads him to create a plot to satisfy his jealousy against his half-brother. The entire deception which causes the ruin of Hero's character, a woman which Don John has no reason to dislike or want to harm, acts contrived by him because he is envious of his brother's legitimacy, high nobility, and power. Don John states “Come, come, let us thither. This may prove food to my displeasure. That young start-up hath all the glory of my overthrow. If I can cross him anyway, I bless myself every

He lies because his acts are motivated by his jealousy of Don Pedro. Don John creates a false situation of Hero being unfaithful, and presents his false evidence to Claudio and Don Pedro. Don John carefully uses his lying mechanisms to cause a huge misunderstanding and quarrel. Don John tricks Claudio and Don Pedro about Hero`s unfaithfulness by luring them into his trap, “If you dare not trust that you see, confess not that you know: if you will follow me, I will show you enough; and when you have seen more and heard more, proceed accordingly.” Don John easily lures them into his trap having them believe what isn`t
