By writing this I do not hope to say that murder is at all justified, rather, I hope to talk about the meaning of her death and why it happened in the first place. Firdaus is an Egyptian woman held in prison due to her actions of killing a man. Because of her actions, she is sentenced to death. , did not have to happen as instead, Firdaus could have simply signed a paper which allowed her to live in prison or she could have not done anything and stayed in a household under the domestic abuse of her husband Sheikh Mahmoud. Because her execution is drawing ever so close, being held in prison she realizes that she will not be alive to see the end of tomorrow. So as the clock ticks she reflects on the life she’s lived so far. With that reflection comes a sense of fear as the goal she has was a feeling of fulfillment or pride in her life. Where now she feels at ease with no, left in her heart, not even to death. As people did not fear Firdaus for her actions of killing a man, but the truth behind her die, the savage truth nobody wished to recognize.
