Music has always given many people a sense of hope, stress relief and for some, help express personal feelings in words or sounds. As much relief as music gives the active listener or performer, music programs around the United States are starting to dwindle and be removed from school curriculums. Organizations such as the Pennsylvania Music Educators of America or National Association Foundation of Music Education have been trying to stress the importance of music programs in schools for years. In the end, it is up to music educators in schools to show the community the educational benefits and mental benefits to students in a music program. As a part of my courses, I have already done over 10 hours of school teacher observations of different age groups just this past school semester. I am also a member of PMEA and NAFME organizations. I attend their monthly meetings to help better my understanding of music education as a whole and see what the latest news is in the music educator community. Each member in these organizations are a part of an interconnected web of Music Educators on the East Coast. These members are valuable resources to help starting education majors, such as myself, understand the career field, give valuable tips, and even offer job opportunities in the community. Apart from these organizations my pathway for achieving a doctorate in the field is in a shorter amount of time then the program offers. My continuous efforts in schooling over the summer and during high school have put me ahead in the education program in my college. This allows me to take Masters Courses my sophomore year of college. Pushing forward into my career goals and schooling I realized I have a solid plan for my next 5 years of schooling and have started education connections through the PMEA and NAFME organizations in my area. My teacher observations have given me some field experience and a head start on what it may be like as a future teacher. All these factors will help me get one step closer to reaching my goal of receiving a doctorate in music education and becoming a music teacher that can spread the love for music in programs all around the
