Elements of Music Final Report
I am writing about the music in the clip provided featuring Jimi Hendrix. In this clip the melody is set by Jimi Hendrix who is the only guitarist in the video clip. Jimi Hendrix is also the only the only vocalist in the clip which complements the melody. I do not think the melody is easy to remember. At some points the melody is not easy to remember because Jimi Hendrix goes into complicated solos where he breaks away from the typical melody present. I can hear several themes in this clip of Jimi Hendrix. I would say there are four. At first there is a sort of introductory theme that is pretty simple. The pattern of the harmony is very predictable making it consonant. There is not a sense of tension and release present. I do not think that the harmony is the main element that determines how one perceives the music. I think the harmony is really a background and accompaniment to Jimi Hendrix amazing guitar playing. I think the main element in this clip is the melody that Jimi Hendrix produces with his guitar. It is because he can play the guitar in such an intricate and complicated manner that the melody is the main element that determines how someone perceives the music. The rhythm in this peace is set by the drums. Similar to the harmony in this peace I think that the rhythm also takes a back seat to the melody Jimi Hendrix produces by playing his guitar. Now the harmony and the rhythm are both important in this piece because they complement the melody but they are simply not the most important piece in the clip. The colors the in the song are relatively light. They are mostly produced by the guitar. The colors in the clip are traditional to each type of instrument.
