The two books assigned were My Antonia and All The King’s Men. My Antonia by Willa Cather is a story about an immigrant family from Bohemia struggling to find their place in Nebraska.
In the book My Antonia, the characters developed a lot throughout the story, but one character development that stood out to me was Antonia Shimerda. Antonia's character developed so much in this novel, she becomes a more independent character, but that's only because of the challenges she faced when she moved from Bohemia, her dad committed suicide, she had to work as a servant girl and when her fiancé left her. In the beginning of the novel, Antonia and her family are welcomed into Nebraska. They stay next to Jim Burden and his grandparents, they are the ones who welcomed them.
It is often believed that pictures speak louder than words. However, when comparing a book to a movie, this quote is totally not applicable. The purpose of creating a movie from a book is mainly to bring the characters to life and make the story more relatable. Fantasies, especially, are unrealistic and hence a movie makes the fantasy come to life. The Princess Bride was originally a book which was then filmed as a movie to recreate the story.
We’ve all read a really good book and then watched the movie and thought, what the heck this wasn’t like the book at all. That’s exactly how it was for the movie Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Although they were both very good the book Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was better than the movie. When Jacob is at work he gets a phone call from his grandpa, Abe, he’s looking for the key to his gun cabinet that Jacob has hidden so his grandpa doesn’t hurt himself or anyone else. Once Jacob arrives at his grandpa’s house he discovers his grandpa isn’t home and all the doors and windows are open.

In my opinion it is better to watch the movie first and then read the book, when the story in the movie is based in the book. I am used to watch the movies and then read the books, and in my experience it has many benefits, and makes me more satisfied with the plot. The first reason why I prefer to watch the movies first is because usually the movies contain less information, so when you read the book later you can still be surprised with some parts that were not in the movie. As books are more complete than movies, you can be disappointed with the absence of scenes that you imagined would be in the film. The second point that makes me prefer to watch the movie first is because it gives you a visual of the story and the ambient
