The Powwow: A Culturally Significant Event On April 28th at 2 PM I volunteered to work at the powwow. The powwow holds a cultural significance for Native Americans and celebrates heritage. I observed a beautiful display of culture and I gained a real understanding of diversity. As someone from a Hispanic background I understand the significance of keeping culture alive.
Since he was born in an impoverished country, his drive for success in America was motivated by being a good example for his country. My family has always been the center of my universe. They’ve taught me the importance of being united and taking care of one another—because in the end, all we truly have is each other. My parents have raised me to be a good daughter, sister, and citizen. They’ve shaped me to be respectful, responsible, and virtuous, knowing these values will last a lifetime. But above all, my parents have instilled in me an appreciation and eagerness for education.
The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing. In life, there is a universal desire for oneness among people—we want to belong. Mrs. Berrand falls into the Black minority group and identify themselves as members of the low middle class. She completed high school in her country, but was unable to pursue higher education due to financial difficulty. She claimed there is no college graduate in her family so far, but most of the members of her generation, including her, were high school graduated.
