In paper 4, while I found my rhetorical analysis to be satisfactory the paper itself suffered from a myriad of careless mistakes and poor attention to audience. The largest detriment was the number of silly mistakes, most of which appeared in previous papers. Such as forgetting the rubric, and fragmented sentences. However, despite the careless mistakes, the writing related mistakes in my paper were less frequent.
The paper does not contain many if at all no mistakes in grammar or organization. The paper follows a steady progression of ideas without throwing in anything that does not fit in or the evidence does not support. Furthermore, each sentence sets up the next sentence, and it does not make any redundant points; this makes the paper easy to follow and understand. Moreover, grammar wise the paper does an excellent job of using complex sentences constructions and a sophisticated vocabulary. The paper uses all the words selected from the book correctly and in an effective manner.
Practices such as peer review for example is a great way to gain experience and is a positive way to learn from your mistakes. Another point Shirley states is that you cannot be born with the natural ability to write and know right from wrong. Over time fluency is gained and writing becomes easier but never
The idea that life is all sunshine and flowers is quickly diminished by the true horrors that await us in our lifetime. Ignorance is the key to maintaining a carefree lifestyle; once the exposure begins there is no denying what goes on right under your nose. Myop’s life up until this point has been an endless summer filled with flower picking while a song plays in her head. Her summer ends abruptly when she makes and unsightly discovery in the woods behind the house. Her discovery essentially ends her summer and her ignorance of what the world really has to offer her.
Why Comp I is So Valuable I believe that there are several reasons why Composition I is a valuable course for college students to take. Some of the reasons Comp I is so valuable are 1) it improves your writing skills, 2) it teaches us the different types of writing, and most importantly 3) it teaches us to manage our time wisely and effectively. Without the course Comp I, I believe that students wouldn’t be prepared or as prepared to take on the real world. Writing skills are something that most people don’t just have.
Most people have an issue with reviewing over their paper and thinking that it’s good enough to the reader. Don’t be selfish review your paper, and think about the reader. Thirdly, be neat, and remove extraneous word. Please believe that you don’t need extra wording in your paper, people don’t have all day to read wordy paper. Fourthly, which I though these were important, write to entertain, meaning think of the reader.
This semester was filled with many bumpy roads. I struggled in the beginning of the semester with my writings , as I didn 't feel confident enough to write a well developed writing. I seemed to find myself struggling whereas writing was not my favorable subject. The major errors I had in my writings this semester would be , grammatical errors, work citations, transition words, formatting ,paragraph development, sentence structure , and sentence level issue. Therefore I have set goals to improve my writing in the future.
Writing papers and fixing my errors has helped me understand my weaknesses and taught me what NOT to do. Editing my mistakes has taught me the skills to carry on in my next paper. Run on sentences, poor use of vocabulary and citations were my biggest weaknesses. I have officially mastered the skills the eliminate these errors. I no longer struggle with these basic errors.
In the chapter “How to Spot Eight Everyday Reasoning Errors,” in the book Philosophy Gym by Stephen Law, the author points out common fallacies that people make every day. A fallacy is an error in reasoning, and reasoning is the use of argument (Law 267). Everyone uses logic and reasoning in their everyday lives, so this chapter is important because it can help people spot common reasoning errors, and help one not to make them. In this chapter, the author discusses the eight most common reasoning errors people use on a daily basis.

The comments from my instructor, the online material, my research, the online writing center and comments from other students in the discussion boards have helped me so much to improve my writing skills. In the writing process, the step that I feel I have improved a lot is editing, as I am constantly reading my writings and editing them as I finish them, over and over again before I publish them. The steps in the writing process that I like the most are finding a topic in the Pre-writing step and Drafting. I like having a lot of ideas floating around and think about which idea is the best and the most exciting topic to talk about.
There are other areas in my writing that I have improved on. I have improved on my grammar, verb constructions, use of verb tenses and organizational skills to make my writing flow better when reading. My overall progress in completing this ten weeks course was wonderful. Every steps and skills I learned in this English class will help me to improve on my writing skills in my other classes and will also help me in my future
