The Synopsis that I gathered from Haas and Flowers’ “Rhetorical Reading Strategies and the Construction of Meaning” was none the less another interesting read. Experienced readers might come to understand that both reading and writing can be “context-rich, situational, and have constructive acts”. Though a large number of students may find reading and writing more or less to be an exchange of valued or non-valued information. Continuing on, multiple studies that have been conducted have also found that on average 77 percent of experienced readers tend to use content strategies to expand their knowledge of the reading. These strategies usually include vigorous annotations of the reading/writing that have been shown to improve the readers/writers’ comprehension of the material.

The worst thing I do is write everything the professor is saying, not allowing me to capture the main points of the subject. In this Ted Talk, Hill speaks about his use of a very minimalistic lifestyle, living inside a 420 sq. ft apartment. Throughout the speech, he uses various forms of rhetoric such as Ethos, Pathos, Logos, Diction, Syntax, and Tone to help persuade the audience to use a more minimalistic lifestyle such as his.
As a reader one has to know what to look for and identify the main idea and understand what the author is trying to argue. Before taking Writing 10 I felt I was a good reader and able to identify the main idea in a prompt, but little did I really know. After going through the research process and trying to identify reliable sources I have essentially cut out the unnecessary information and I go straight to the idea or argument being made by the author. As of before, I would focus on every detail of the writing. Having been assigned readings and having discussions about the readings during class, I soon realized that writing is about an argument being made with supporting evidence.
I have to say I do have these pointless items. The reason for me having these items is because of the society it’s self. If you didn’t have these pointless items it would hurt your success in life drastically. It would make getting through life very difficult. I also agree on the point about the environment.

In the essay, Directions: Write, Read, Rewrite. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 as Needed, Susan Sontag emphasizes that reading can be used as motivation for writing. Granted she has talked to people that don't feel the same. That the act of reading and the writing must be separate, that it's best to do one or the other. Sontag believes this view is brought about by either fear of influencing one's unique voice or simply lack of time.

My parents like buying me and my sisters stuff because they see how much we enjoy the stuff and they want us to have fun and entertain ourselves with the things they buy us. You see people buy expensive such as clothes, designer bags and, etc. Right now a lot of adults have been buying drones they spend up to one thousand dollars on drones, but these drones won 't last that long.

Even though I still struggle with a reading, I become better than before. I have more confidence to ask when I need or want to know the words. Reading give straight and opens the mind. I expect to be a better reader and writer. Reading is the key to filling and empty
The way I prepared myself for this book was on every page I had at least about three sticky notes stating the important facts and at the end of the chapter I had a one sentence summary stating the main idea opic of that chapter. This method I have found out has helped me the most it helps me remember certain things better due to my short-term memory loss. For my writing method, I tend to make outlines so I don’t get off topic. Both of my reading and writing method I have discovered for myself throughout my school years has helped me learn better and just in generally better myself academic wise.

Many if not all of us can relate to the statement that we’ve all had useless clutter in our lives, both physical and mental. We may not realize it but it can be a constant battle to get rid of these useless thoughts, possessions, memories and for some, people. It can be as simple as having to look at yourself in the window as you walk past it just to make sure you look good or it could be as drastic as constantly checking your phone for notifications and changing your life to keep up with the ‘social norms’. I didn’t realise that I had so much unnecessary things, people and thoughts in my life until I looked back on it and actively changed it.
