Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to introduce you to who I am professionally and academically. As I have progressed in my career my passion for school has followed. Having grown up professionally in the company I am employed in today created a desire to become a strong leader and to teach others as I learn more. Being employed in the corporate environment for the last 20 years and 17 years with one company has ignited the desire to learn more, share more and engage with other leaders. I started at the bottom of the leadership ladder in 2000 and had yet to complete even two years of college.

In the role I hold as well as those I support today it is interesting to me how we select leaders, move key talent in and out of areas and recruit outside of the company to bring diverse talent into the business. How diversity of leadership is defined and engaged is of specific interest. As a business that is focused on maintaining customer relationships, deepening our customers drive to business with us and lowering our associate attrition how our organization is created, organized and staffed is a key factor in the success of our business strategy. Learning is an enjoyment and jumping into week one with support has also been enjoyable. The APA formatting and ensuring that the mechanics of writing papers is accomplished still feels challenging I will continue to use the tools and resources provided to ensure the mechanics of the writing I submit are sound.

Rationale for Choosing the Degree
The Doctorate of Business aligns with the professional and personal goals I am working toward. I will further my education, learn concepts that are tied specifically to what I do today and what my career goals are focused on achieving. Currently in the work I do day to day, I am responsible to drive the mission and values of the company to create a culture that retains the most talented associates and leaders. Learning to best understand organizational leadership, all of the components and implementing them in the areas I support today will be rewarding and exciting.
