I chose to study this course to improve my abilities and skills in English essay writing, and now at the end of this course, I have gained many new skills along with valuable experiences of learning. My essay writing skill has been improved in several ways. Through the class contents, I have learned how to think critically about the six core elements including analysis, inference, explanation, evaluation, self regulation, and interpretation before I actually begin any writing. I also learned how to write expository paragraphs or essays while I have noticed the importance of expository paragraph writing. Expository paragraphs usually provide readers information, and they can be found frequently in books or instructions. Before I am taking this course, my English ability would not allow me to write a good expository paragraph, or more of the time, I did not even understand the basic structure of an expository essay. But this course has taught me the skill to write an expository essay using sources and good structured sentences. But on the other hand, I do find easier to create my introductory paragraphs with strong thesis statements. Furthermore, I find hard to apply my English grammar perfectly throughout an essay; although word processors are able to help me to correct my spelling or fragments, but I frequently forget about the matters with tense in verb use.
