Volunteering: Poe Center for Health Education October 10, 2014- August 2015. I started out doing two days a week, Monday's from 2:30-4:30 and Friday's 2:30-5:00. During the summer I volunteered one day a week from 12-5. I stopped volunteering with the Poe Center because this school year I wanted to focus more on my work. Most days I had to walk to get there because I wanted to start volunteering somewhere.
During the past few years, I have had many volunteer and leadership opportunities both in and outside of school. Truth be told, I’ve never been the most outgoing person, but many of these opportunities have helped me to step outside my comfort zone, and take leadership various situations. Through my volunteering experiences, I’ve learned many lessons. I believe that going to Archbishop MacDonald high school will continue to push me outside my comfort zone and become a great leader in my community.
As a student of Bronx Community College, I was so excited when I first entered campus. At the same time, I was frightened since the school system in the United States was different from my country Ghana. The term began and I started classes. There the problems started, I did not hear what both the lectures and the students were saying. Everything was like a foreign language to me, and neither do they understand me when I speak.
I have led many club activities such as concession stands, volunteer services, and other community led activities. I have become a great leader to many of these kids as president of our school club, S-Club. I am in very good standing academically and known for my exceptional work ethic. I have matured with each of the trials and events I have encountered that have come my way during my senior year. The skills I have gained over the course of the year will help me towards my main career goal in mind, professional.
During my high school career I have made a consistent effort to stay involved in both my school and community. Through clubs such as Key Club, National Art Honor Society, and National Honor Society I’ve been able to help out locally and globally in an abundance of ways. In Key club and NHS I am able to volunteer in traditional ways, but National Arts Honors Society allows me to contribute to my community and school in a creative way that stimulates people 's minds through art. Due to these activities having a significant impact on my life my future career options are based around what I have learned from them.

I would like to be apart of ASB because I’m interested in helping Medea be the best school it can be. I always like to learn new things and I will appreciate new experiences learning from seventh and eighth graders. I am responsible and I am excited for my leadership skills to be tested. Also, I will gain more responsibility and learn more leadership skills throughout my time in ASB. As part of ASB, I will be able to work with other students who have similar interests and want to be fellow leaders at Medea.
I love volunteering because even though you don't get money for helping someone, you get the joy and happiness of knowing you did something good for someone else. Being a member of Key Club and Junior Optimist I have the opportunity to volunteer frequently in the community and to the school. I have volunteered to work in various booths at the Glandorf Park Fest. I helped work at the YMCA Trunk or Treat to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. A group of my friends went over to Kalida to help with the Triathlon.
Tell us about your sorority experience. I have had a fantastic sorority experience. I went through recruitment and joined a sorority with a completely open mind because I am the first in my family to participate in greek life, so I really didn’t know what all to expect. I am confident when I saw say, joining a sorority was the best decision of my life. I have had the opportunity to make amazing friends in and out of my sorority, meet impressive alumni at our international conference, and learn about and actively advocate for our wonderful philanthropy.
I plan on volunteering for many different organizations, that I am both currently working with, and plan to. For example, I participate in volunteer events for Special Olympic games, The Everett Theater, and St. Joseph’s Parish. By helping
As a junior in high school, I was inducted into the National Honor Society for doing exceptionally well in my academic endeavors and actively participating in volunteer events. I am well versed with the business practices and administrative processes for SPS, having been an employee with the division for approximately three years. With over 15 years of experience in project and contract management, I am well versed in contract administration and documentation control. I chose teaching as giving back to my community because mostly my people are Non-English Speaker, so I would like to help with speaking, writing, and reading in English. Finally, disaster relief is a big help to the community because your community will need help with restoring that’s when your community really need your involvement in the issues. How I will fulfill the needs of my community after I complete all my education is restoring basic community services, a damage and needs assessment, and organize community teams that can help do basic rehabilitation tasks.
In the first year, I was a part of a pioneering youth development team in Americorps NCCC Southwest Region. I worked with K-12 students in title one schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity, local non-profit organizations, The Red Cross and The Salvation Army. I spent my second year working with underserved youth as a volunteer coordinator for Reading Partners in DC. I learned about the struggles that the students I worked with dealt with every day. I was also able to interact with parents and provide resources for education, housing, food, and nutrition.
Being a health and fitness enthusiast I have always been interested in learning about how the mind works physically and emotionally, and in what ways the body reacts to various mental states is very intriguing. That is why I want to explore the mind and the essence of the human condition. We all question or try to make sense of our life; I believe that through its many perspectives, psychology has those answers. Psychology is accessible because not only is it a scientific study of thought and behaviour, it is also an art that can be applied by the individual to everyday life. I also believe we are all psychologists attempting to understand other people and ourselves.
