I am currently reading, Al Capone Does My Homework by Gennifer Choldenko. The main characters are siblings Moose and Natalie Flanagin. If you’re the son of a guard on Alcatraz island in 1936 comes with major responsibilities and problems, especially when your dad gets promoted to associate warden, the number two spot on Alcatraz. When a group of men - ostensibly police officers - arrived at the warehouse, Moran's men thought they would be arrested for violating Prohibition. Facing the wall, with their hands in the air, they expected to be arrested. Instead, they were killed in cold blood. The visitors were not police officers, after all. Moran survived the disaster, because he'd been late for the meeting.

Gangs began fighting for their territories which led to destruction and death. Violent crime became prominent in the era of prohibition. Capone was one of the major leaders in the violent crime. He organized one of the worst murders during this era, the St. Valentine 's Day Massacre. The St. Valentine Day Massacre is just one example of the numerous murders committed in the mobsters search for territory.
When Capone was arrested it became one of the major accomplishments of the 1930s. Al Capone’s childhood led to what he became. As a kid Capone joined two “kid gangs” called the Brooklyn Rippers and Forty

They had been a risk for a considerable length of time. Moran had even once attempted to murder Capone 's associate and companion Jack McGurn. Capone’s schooling was not an easy ride for him at all; he went to a brutal Catholic school where there was violence that turned Capone into a promising young student even though when he was at school when he was fourteen years old he hit his teacher and got kicked out of school and never went back. When Al Capone was young, there were few signs that he would one day become America’s most infamous gangster even though he was in a street gang when he was just a young boy(“Al” Biography).
