A foil is most commonly defined as a character who contrasts with another character. Foils are all around you, yet they usually go unnoticed. The Wicked Witch and Glinda the Good Witch. Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Shrek and Donkey. Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Mike and Sully. Katniss and Peeta. Anna and Elsa. In almost every Movie or TV Show, foils are present. Foils create the small balance needed in literature and in real life. Foils are present in everyday life as well. Have you ever heard the term opposites attract? I believe my foil would be irresponsible and careless. They would be disrespectful and childish, as well. These are due to my belief that I oppose these traits in my personality. A few positive traits my foil would possess would be confidence, patience, and decisiveness. Personally, I have very little confidence in some of the things I do. I’m also a very impatient and indecisive person. My foil would be a loud person, and possibly annoying. They would probably enjoy large crowds and obnoxious noises would most likely not bother them. My foil would be a follower and very dependent on other people. I consider myself as an independent leader. I believe my foil would be fearless! They wouldn’t be scared of little things. They could climb Mount Everest without even slightly looking back. They would also be foolish. They wouldn’t be intelligent or logical. They would make dumb decisions that cost them in some way. Physically wise, I believe my foil would be about average height, like me, yet differ in other ways. They would have short hair, most likely brown. They would have bright blue eyes and tan skin. They would be about my same age and most likely be female. These similarities are due to the fact that foil are typically similar in some ways to help highlight their differences. My foil would most likely have a different mannerism than me. As you go about your daily life, look out for foils. You’d be surprised where all you can find
