Finishing college with a bachelor's in history and social science for secondary education is my biggest goal right now. The sooner I can be in front of class shaping young lives and minds, the happier I will be! My plan is: Take all of the classes needed to apply for the College of Education by the end of 2017.
This includes taking extra credits in the summer and fall semesters and working fewer hours. Sacrifice and hard work will make my achievements even more meaningful to me.

Consult with peers who have been accepted.
Discuss with professors and mentors areas of opportunity early on so they can be addressed and resolved quickly.

Once I have degree in hand, the next step will be to find the best place to teach:
An urban setting would suit me best as I enjoy all the city has to offer with arts and entertainment.
A public school is a good fit for me as it is where I grew up and where the students need the best teachers.
Income is not a consideration for me as teaching is its own reward. A hefty salary is not why one goes into teaching and it will not be a deciding factor for me.
A progressive, creative, diverse environment of teachers, students, parents, and staff will work well with my personal preferences. If it takes a village to raise a child, the school should represent the community where the students live. Diversity leads to open communication, understanding, tolerance.
As a teacher, my goals will be clear to my students:
Don't just show up; do be present every class.
Don't just do the work; do learn it, challenge it, earn the grade for it.
Don't settle for passing a class; do strive to be the best and achieve success.
