When someone thinks of a superhero they often think of Batman or Wonder Woman or anybody from a tv show they consider a hero. In My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, Elsa’s hero is her grandmother and Harry Potter. Her grandmother is her hero for many reason: she took care of her since the day Elsa’s was born, she also tells Elsa all of these fairytales and teaches her a secret language that her and Elsa only know. When Elsa’s grandmother dies, she feels betrayed by her and does not want to really accept it. Elsa is given a job to apologize to everyone that her Granny did wrong to. She was suppose to feed it through the mail hole and take care of it for a while. She grew a connection to it and would tell it to be quiet when Britt-Marie was a round so she would not call the animal control. ‘“You have to stop howling, Britt-Marie will call the police and they’ll come here and kill you” she whispered through the slot.”’ (Backman 58). Throughout the book Elsa and the wurse grow a connection and it became a super hero to Elsa. The connection forms when Elsa made sure it has a hiding spot everyday from Britt-Marie or anybody else looking for it. The wurse would protect Elsa especially when Sam came and tried to kidnapped her. The heroic attribute the wurse shows is selflessness. This is because it would put Elsa first before itself and made sure she was okay and that she would always have a friend. “You’ve completed you mission, you don't have to protect the castle anymore. Protect Granny now. Protect all the fairy tales!” (Backman 399). This excerpt shows that the wurse understood Granny’s fairy tails and knew that it had to protect Elsa when the day came that Granny could not be there anymore.
