If my father was never murdered, I would still be living in San Pedro, having not yet established the “lifelong” friendships I have come to make, and not crossing paths with any of the incredibly admirable people I have had the pleasure of meeting throughout my seventeen years of life. Every story has a beginning and here is mine. I am the oldest of three children and I find it incredibly difficult to open up to people. “This is your world, shape it or someone else will.” This is a quote that I recently discovered and it is something that I try to apply to my life everyday. If you look at my grades from the past or even my attendance they are a reflection of what I was experiencing at that time. I have decided to no longer let those things define who I am. I have not had the easiest life, the most money or even the biggest support system, but what one thing that I have relied on in my life is faith. I pride myself on being a very spiritual person and I believe that everyone has a purpose in life, and my purpose is to help others and become a role model for those that are in need of guidance. My goal is not to go down in history books or make the news or anything like that. I believe in starting small and working my way up because I have come to realize that before you can change or fix what is wrong with the world, you must first start with yourself. Though everything I have been through, if I have learned anything, it is that I am a fighter and I have the potential to do great things in this world whether others choose to believe in me or not.
