My Leadership Philosophy

Leadership is defined as “the process in which an individual influences a group of individuals to attain a common goal.” A successful leader infuses a sense of positivity and directs others to reach the specified goal with a focus on the community rather than the individual. True leaders should have the ability to guide others without imposing a specific decision or value on the group, but instead leaves them feeling empowered and accomplished. This concept of leadership is what guides me in the positions I hold and the actions I make. I believe the strongest leadership qualities I possess are empathy and optimism. While these may be atypical choices, I firmly believe in focusing on what helps others and the community over simply myself. There’s no denying that I am very vocal in the classroom and are generally very inquisitive and eager to further confer the topics raised in my courses. I love to solve problems and appreciate the challenges that come with honors and Advanced Placement classes. As such, my tendency for inquiry also beckons me to be involved in a multitude of extracurricular activities. Academically, I serve my school as a member of student government, Key Club, and the National Honor Society. I am also often sought after through the Gifted and Talented program coordinator to instruct youth and assist in special events and seminars. Over the years I have also assisted in leading my school’s academic team and as a captain of the soccer team. In my spare time I also enjoy teaching through the summer Promise Programs and volunteer frequently at Bourbon Heights nursing facility.
