My Leadership Philosophy

My leadership philosophy primarily aligns with Senge’s (2013) disciplines within an effective learning organization that effective leaders develop to create “a new wave of experimentation and advancement” (2013, p. 11) within the STEM curricula, foster lifelong learning for my colleagues, student-participants, and I that extends beyond the organization (2013), which are necessary to adapt to the ever changing realities for organizations (Schramm-Pate, 2016). In adapting to these ever changing realities for organizations (2016), an effective leader develops the following disciplines: building a shared vision; personal mastery; team learning (Senge, 2013); and reflection (Murphy, 2013). Leadership is a process by which an individual induces a group to pursue an objective shared by the leader and his or her followers (Gardner, 2013). This objective shared by the leader and his or her followers is a vision that must be genuine (Senge, 2013). Moreover, team learning (2013) cultivated by an effective leader encourages dialogue within the organization to foster teamwork and create trusting relationships (Tschannen-Moran, 2013) and serves as an opportunity for cooperative learning, which also builds interdependence and trust among all members of the organization (Senge, 2013). Also, effective leaders view reflection as a part of their daily and weekly routines (Tschannen-Moran, 2013) and share these self-assessments with close associates to strengthen community within the organization (Murphy, 2013).
