My Leadership Philosophy

What is leadership? Leadership is defined as the power or ability to lead other people. What is a leader? A leader is a person whom other people follow in order to reach their desired goal. How have I been a leader to others? Sometimes I find it hard to take the leadership roles that I am offered. The thing is I’m afraid of failing, but then again who isn’t. Most people would not describe me as a leader, but I try lead in my own way. I’m not the loudest person in the room, and because of that I’m not always heard, but I do my best to lead by example. I try to exemplify the qualities I believe a leader should have. I listen; some think that leaders are always the ones talking, but a good leader has to listen too. I work hard; this is a quality which all leaders posses. I am honest; this is one of the most important qualities in a leader. I try; when it all comes down to it, effort is what defines a leader. I saw the relief on the family’s face when I brought an extra blanket to a patient complaining of being cold. These looks on the faces of the families are what affected me the most during my volunteering, because I knew how the family felt. I had been in their shoes, and being able to help them gave me the best feeling in the world. What is character? Character is defined as the way someone thinks, feels, and behaves. If I had to describe myself, I would say I am honest, caring, loyal, and hardworking. I am honest; if asked a question I will answer truthfully and I do not take credit for what others have done. I am caring; my friends and family are the most important things in the world and I would do anything for them. I am loyal; it may take a while for someone to earn my trust, but once they do I will not abandon them. I am hardworking; I fully dedicate myself to whatever I am working on, no matter what it
