For my project I studied Brunelleschi's Dome. In 1296 work was begun on a cathedral in Florence, Italy, it was to have the largest cupola dome in the entire world. In 1418 the structure was complete, except for one thing, a huge hole in the roof where the dome was to be,but no one knew how to make such a huge dome not collapse. In 1418 the town sponsored a competition for architects to design the dome so it would not collapse. The winner was Fillipo Brunelleschi.
Did jealousy ever cause you to do something you regret? In the novel “A Separate Peace” by John Knowles, two young men attending Devon during the time of world war II. Gene, one of the young men, is facing an internal conflict against his friend Finny. Throughout this novel Gene recovers many ideas that may or may not be true causing him to hurt his best friend. Gene has this ongoing thought throughout the story.
In the letter written by Jesse Looney, “Letter by one of the immigrants of 1843”, he describes the scenery and the requirements to make this expedition possible for his brother-in-law, James Bond, and his family. Jesse Looney wrote this letter in 1843 in order to inform his brother on how he and his family should prepare for a long vigorous journey that awaits them to the “new country.” It’s important to note that during 1843 there was a lot movement going on from the east coast of the United States towards the newly settled west coast of the country. Nevertheless, the letter thoroughly instructs his brother in law to bring certain items such as, American cattle, clothing, and to bring as much food as possible. Looney does a great job in sort of convincing his brother in law in a sense to also go on the expedition himself.
Eventually, Janie decided to leave Logan for another man she met names Joe Starks, and her quest for love continued with her new marriage. Janie was instantly attracted to Joe’s innate power because he gave her hope that she could reach the “horizon” (page 36). Joe took over as mayor of Eatonville and his influence increased dramatically with his improved confidence. He made decisions for Janie, just as her grandmother had, and forbid her from living like every other townsperson. For example, Janie was not allowed to associate with any customers in the store she helped Joe run, she could not wear her hair down in the store, and she had to dress a particular way because of Joe’s raging jealousy.
“There is time in every man’s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide…” (Emerson p. 372-372). That’s exactly how Gene was in A Separate Peace by John Knowles in the setting of New Hampshire at Daven High School. Gene is jealous of his friend Finny and it affect him and his relationship with Finny. Peace is hard to get in this world
“There is a time in every man’s education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide” (Emerson). The character Gene learns of this not until after many trials and a great tragedy. In A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the idea of self-reliance is greatly stressed. The novel A Separate Peace conveys how Gene’s envy and imitation of Finny affect him, how Gene’s envy and imitation affect their relationship with Finny, and Gene’s achievement of peace. The envy towards and imitation of Funny greatly affect Gene.
Thesis: Frederick Exley ruins his entire life (or at least the section we read about in the book) by his own accord. The general intent of my paper will describe the relationship between Frederick Exley and self-pity. In other words, what I hope to demonstrate in my analysis is that Exley did, in fact, ruin everything good that happened to him, rather than it being fate or others that caused his life to be in such shambles. I will highlight sections of the book that are pertinent to my thesis and use chosen sources to prove my thesis.

Envy and Jealousy The narrator the husband in the story Cathedral uses emotion as judgment before getting to know Robert’s wife’s close friend she hasn’t seen him in a while. That was because he didn’t known about the visit she arranged it and planned it. To him it is a blind man a stranger who knows only his wife is coming over for the night. What are you doing wrong?” I was frustrated, still the girl getting B’s while my other siblings got A’s. The stress was starting to build for me. The pressure built to a head when I had a group project for the class.

Charles Kuralt once said, “ The love of family and the admirations of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege.” This quote shows how jealousy and popularity aren’t as important as relationships in your life. In the book, A Separate Peace, Gene has different priorities than relationships. Gene, a young boy who attends Devon boarding school, goes through many different trials along his grade school journey. He faces problems with friends and school life during the time of World War two and the draft being in full swing.
I communicated well with my partner and we both kept each other on task with the project and to get everything done. I developed to start thinking about a project when its first assigned so you don't fall behind because if you get declined then you can come up with another idea. If I and my partner put more time into this project we could have probably been able to do the actual plan and repaint the basketball courts or draw lined games on the blacktop. My self-management wasn’t the best for this
Renovation of the President’s and Executive Vice President’s offices were not in alignment with the broad objective of Woody 2000 project. It was included in the project just to make use of the opportunity that since other activities were being carried out, then why not include the renovation in the project as well. But since it did not serve the project’s objective, but just added to the project cost and time, it wasn’t a good idea. b. Write a simple project scope statement.
