I have one place that brings back a memory. Most memories are good memories but this memory unfortunately is not a good one it's a sad one. My memory is at a fire scene on highway 76 in front of Zeke's Country Store at the intersection of Sandy Springs Rd and Millwee Creek Rd on February 15 2015. Sandy Springs Fire Department was dispatched on February 15, 2015 at approximately 9:00 p.m. to a motor vehicle accident. At approximately 9:55 p.m. there was a fireman hit buy a car while directing traffic. The car came around the fire truck and struck the firefighter. The driver of the car did not stop but some bystanders and police followed him to his house to arrest him. The driver of the car was intoxicated. At the time we did know who the firefighter was until later that evening. The fire department told the fire dispatch to send some more stations so that all of the firemen could leave the scene and go back to the station with the chaplain. Then the fire department left the scene as soon as other fire department came to relive them. My papa and I left and went to the fire department with them. When we gotten to the fire department you could feel the anger and you could also feel sadness in the air. I was there and I was sad and didn't know who it was. All I knew was that one of the firefighters was hurt but I did not know who because some of them went in the ambulance so I didn't know who, and the firefighters was not talking they were just so sad and angry to talk. We all knew who it was when were at the fire department. Then we got a call from someone and they said that the firefighter died. We all started crying when we heard the news because we all lost a brother. Ken Stanton was one of the best men I knew. He always was will to help someone and he always was making jokes.
