As a divorced single female who has confronted poverty and homelessness, determination and commitment is a vital part of my character. Regardless of what problems and challenges I have encountered, I am determined in reaching my goals. When it comes to my long-range goals, I am convinced in learning more about how to become an advocate for my own homeless shelter for disadvantaged individuals. I want to achieve my Masters in Social Work, mainly encouraged by my five sisters (Harrington) who are Alumni Graduates of Howard University.

Also, as a result of my own experiences in life, strength from God to finish my education. I am more convinced now of furthering my education than ever before. The social work field of practice I plan to concentrate is Social Gerontology or Mental Health. The social work practice method I plan to concentrate is Direct Practice, or Community.

Also, I have a passion for work and a high level of responsibility. Further, some of my weakness includes getting nervous at times speaking in front of large group of people. I believe that I can improve by learning new skills and practicing. Also, I am a little shy in speaking up in some of my social work meetings as a Phi Alpha President. I have been working on my shyness and trouble in expressing myself in meetings by listening better, enabling myself to speak. Recently, I have spoken in front of a crowd at Albany State University for my Symposium Presentation and the induction for Phi Alpha new
