Ultimately my education goals are not concrete, they are bound to veer as I grow as both an individual and a student pursuing an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Currently my long term goals regarding my ongoing education is to pursue a career as a certified Nanny, although I would readily settle into a position in a daycare center. I firmly believe a career in education is a vital contribution to the structure of society, as an educator you are molding children to become functioning members of society. Jean Piaget’s theorizes that a child's mental and cognitive ability is in direct correlation with four distinct areas of play, in which children form their knowledge of the world through assuming an active role. Teaching at the forefront is putting what is beneficial for the child into a format that is appropriate for that child’s age as well as that child's own personal cognitive development. Pertaining to my own view I firmly believe teaching is a tool in which to guide children to become capable adults with a healthy use of the tools learned within the early years of their lives. In regards to my personal view on teaching, which has been shaped through personal encounters throughout my childhood years. In particular I grew up in private Catholic school, in which I progressed through each grade with the same teacher thus allowing me to form a substantial bond with them. Conclusively it is in due part to the teacher who was pivotal in forming much of who I am today, I admire educators and the consideration and compassion that goes alongside cultivating the lives of the children that pass through their classrooms. Regarding one of the many key beliefs in my philosophy, in which I believe in cultivating a safe and healthy environment for children. Ultimately I will demonstrate this belief through modeling safe and healthy habits in which students will emulate, as well create a classroom with structured rules in regards to safety. Moreover I will provide an open concept classroom free of clutter, bulky furniture, and a collection of organizational tools. Secondary to this concept I believe it is vital that rid myself of any personal bias I may or may not be aware through formulating an unbiased curriculum. . I will do this through developing a multicultural classroom through the use of toys, books, art and classroom media. I will create an environment available to the children that is equal and educational to each and every child.
