Three years ago I started a small television class but, little did I know that the class and the teacher would change not only my life but help show me what I am destined for in the future.
My first year in television production, I was just a tiny, nervous, sophomore in high school. At the time I was just generally uncomfortable with people, I feared what people thought about me and I feared that any slip up would be the end for me. That year I met David Small, not only was he the television teacher, he was a mentor. Mr. Small, a short but average man, on the first day he told us to get out a pen and paper, and write what we felt about that morning or just general thoughts about coming into class, at the end of that exercise we would fold the papers, tape them shut, and put them into a box to be opened at the of the year.

During the year me and the other T.V. 2 guys were tasked with with all sorts of different projects from the school board office, We did one project called “Fluvanna Schools Are Cool” it was aimed to get parents to bring their kids to Fluvanna. The most important project from the Fluvanna School Boards list, was about the Career and Technical Education program in the high school. Starting production on the CTE was hard we didn't really know what the judges were looking for, eventually we started doing interviews and the rest just sort of fell into place, we pulled many class hours filming, and many many many days editing all of the footage down to fit the time frame while still capturing the message we wanted to send to whoever was judging. At the end or what we thought was the end of our editing marathon, we were still over and had to cut little bits after that we showed it to a representative from the school board and she wanted us to add in a whole
