Peter Elbow claims in “Closing My Eyes as I Speak: An Argument for Ignoring Audience”, audience is important but sometimes should be placed on the backburner during the writing process. He says that thinking about the audience while writing can sometimes affect our style of how we write. I agree with Elbow that this is true. I believe that thinking about the audience during the writing process can influence how the finished product will look. I also think that we as the writer have a choice as to who are audience can be.
The entire assignment was basically creating a presentation on a genre we found on our own to show our understanding of the concept. At the beginning of this class I thought that all of the writing assignments were going to be extremely hard, but after this assignment I realized that these assignments really aren’t going to be too difficult. I think this is due to the Writing as a Process SLO and that fact that it really helps break things into easy understandable parts that flow into one another. I’m glad this was the first assignment because it helped me get a good foothold of what this class is going to be without being too
ESA #6A Task 4 4(a) Review and evaluate building-based policies and procedures relevant to the protection of the welfare and safety of students, staff, and visitors within the selected school. Buckeye Career Center has a variety of policies and procedures dealing with safety of individuals on the property. The procedures, defined both in the public student handbook and the private safety plan, will be reviewed in that order. The first safety policy listed in the student handbook is the safety test. As BCC provides training in vocations that have inherent risks, all students must complete a safety unit at the beginning or school and pass a safety test for their lab with a 100%.
Essay A, Essay B One big aspect in Donna's response was her emphasis and importance of developing a thesis. The two essays we read were precursors in showing us the importance of a thesis and how we are to incorporate it into our writing. Donna also went on to talk about the importance of considering your audience. When it comes to the two essays, "Once More to the Lake" happens to be much more relatable and pertinent than "The Death of the Moth.
95 Thesis The 95 Theses was posted on October, 31 1517 by Martin Luther. This was a genius idea, posting many ways the church should be ran instead of the way it is currently being operated. He took all of this “rules” completely from the bible.
The malpractice of doctors during the 19th century foreshadows the horrific human experimentation conducted by Nazi Germany medical experts during World War Two. The Second World War is distinguished by the mass murder of millions of European Jews. This genocide was conducted by Adolf Hitler, and it is primarily characterized by the utilization of those in concentration camps for medical experiments. Doctors in the 1800s lacked the knowledge of medicine and availability of modern technology to provide beneficial diagnoses and perform the most appropriate treatment. This lack of expertise lead to curiosity and eventually experimentation.
The first essay I was assigned to do in English 101 scared me. I had to write a rhetorical analysis on a tree octopus. I remember when Mr. Sullivan assigned the class to do an outline of the P.S.A. message I wasn't sure exactly what he wanted us to do. I ended up writing a rhetorical analysis for the rhetorical analysis of the P.S.A. message. I felt extremely stupid when I came into class
This book can be used towards my final research essay since this book considers the process of how China transitioned from a Mao economy into an economy of a market. Thus, turning into an economy of capitalism and before it was known to be a closed off economy, yet China remains communist. As China moves towards capitalist economy it allows for China to advance as a country. Considers the notion of New China, Mao Zedong, and cultural revolution in relation to the growth of China’s economy (Gittings, 2006). By using this source will aid me into finding how China and why china alters their economic system but remains communist.
Goodmorning Ms. Scoggins, Hopefully you are having a great weekend in this lovely morning. The reason that I am reach out to you is that I have some concern about the course, and how it will impact my life once I leave Collins. Since I was a little girl, I really have never been a fanatic of english the reason for this I struggle to talk write and read the language. Now I have improve on talking and reading, but as much as I have improve in those area I am still lacking on my writing. I am having problems with my grammar and my thesis statement; I am able to understand the topic and write a lot more than what is required from me.
And a day came when professor gave us our first essay handout. I had no idea about methods of writing essay according to the MLA formatting which professor wanted us to use in essay. And moreover no idea about how to write my first essay. I wrote my first essay whatever I was able to do. As I gave my essay to professor he kept my essay away from other essay.
Before coming to UCI, writing essays was definitely much easier. In school, the essays were usually about topics that were interesting and I usually had a lot of time to do them. For example, in my AP Literature class, we wrote essays about the books that we read but I love reading classical books so the writing came easy to me. On top of that we were given two to three weeks to write an essay that had to be 2 pages max.
For me as a writer the topic of the essay matters the most. I can’t motivate myself on a topic I don’t personally like, well I would just write something and get a grade which is still fine, can’t get everything I want in life. This semester there was only four writing assignments
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
This semester has been an ongoing challenge for me but has been an enjoyable one and I have not been presented with any impossible tasks. I have never been much of a writer, and during the course of this semester, I 've struggled to meet length requirements on the assigned essays. However, I do understand that not everyone is an excellent writer or even has to enjoy writing to get a good grade in this 1A class. From the start, with the first essay, I pushed myself to do my best and looked to multiple outlets to polish my writing, such as the online tutor, the writing center, the internet and the writer 's handbook.
Therefore, take the challenge of viewing things in different perspectives. Think objectively. Express yourself to discover what you truly enjoy thinking about throughout your
