My first semester of college was a success because of the writing skills I gained in my writing composition class. I have learned how to not procrastinate, and leave everything in the last minute. I have also learned when writing my essays, to get to the point and to not make my essay too extensive because that can effect my overall essay. I’ve also seen the progress of my writing from the beginning to the end of the semester by writing a well developed thesis, and giving credentials to authors; and although I have made these progress and improvements, I could still use some work with in-text citation and organization. In my essay “Women’s inequality in American and the Middle east” I had many areas where I needed a better organization. In paragraph 2 and 3, I provided many claims, but the way I set it up was disorganized. For example, in paragraph 2 , I went from the inequality of women’s right to votes to women’s marriage in the Middle East and in paragraph 3 I wrote about the inequality of the women’s job. (“Women Inequality in America and the Middle East” 2 & 3).In order for my essay to be more organized I could of organized the paragraphs by adding all the categories that were more similar together. In my essays I was able to improve in giving credential to authors, but I’ve made mistakes in my in-text citation. For instance, in my casual analysis essay, (“What Causes Immigrants to come to America”) in paragraph 2, I ended a in-text citation sentence with the period inside the quotes. In MLA format the period goes after the parenthesis, and those are the small mistakes I need to work on. According to professor Wilson’s comment in my first essay (“Women’s inequality in America and the Middle East”), “You can edit capitalization with brackets so that the quote flows into your sentence”. I started the in-text quotation sentence with, “Many…”, and the correct way to start off the sentence is by adding brackets to the first letter of the quote, so my sentence can flow more smoothly. In order to analyze a claim to create knowledge or reasoning the writer must cite their sources by providing evidence and reasons. In text citation is important because it gives credit to the author or source I'm getting my information from. It is also important because it allows the reader to look up the information on his
