Ever since I was an infant, I have held a special interest in music. This love for music has strengthened over the years; and in sixth grade, it became plain to me that I would be a musician. However, I have always held somewhat of an affinity for writing. I am the second child of two, but my sister is twenty-five years older than I, and I was raised as an only child would be. Despite this, I never felt lonely, as my father worked at home and I saw him often each day. I attended the three-week camp for instrumental music; but all attendees had to three hour-long classes dealing with disciplines other than theirs throughout the camp, to simulate a liberal arts college experience. My third and final class was a creative writing course, called “Campus Mapping”. These classes, called “smorgs” (short for smorgasbord), typically took place in a classroom setting; but “Mapping” took place outside. I wrote an anecdotal story of the fish (named Frank), who was so smart that every Ivy League college had offered him a …show more content…

When I want to express my feelings in words, though, I always write my thoughts down with a similar artistic mindset to how I play/sing. My previous artistic experience has helped me appreciate other art forms (such as writing); and exploring these art forms has given me a more well-rounded perception of my art. Ideological evolution: Writing gives me a chance to log my thoughts about issues this world faces and look at the other sides to these arguments. Reading the book “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell has inspired me to look at each situation and discover why and how each situation has evolved to its current state. It seems as if there is an endless chain of evidence to why everything's the way it is; and exploring these chains has deepened my interest in writing about these issues. Historical exploration: History has always been a subject that interests me, and I am eager to find out, and write about, the previous happenings of the world and the history of human
