My Writing Process Essay

Just pondering on writing just gives me the chills, hairs on the back of my neck immediately stand up. I procrastinate when issued a writing prompt. Don’t get me wrong I adore writing but generally journal entries and short stories. When issued a writing prompt my mind suddenly goes blank, I struggle on selecting a topic to write about. I see myself as the kind of writer that must mentally prepare myself to write. When I think of my writing process I see it as like buffing and waxing floors. I know that may seem like a strange way to label my writing, but that is the only thing I feel like I can associate my writing to. My written draft, typed draft, and revised type draft is the buffing of the floors preparing for the wax. After finalizing a revised draft. I type up a fulfilled final draft which is the wax. The shining of the floors, nice and polished. When I am getting started on my writing process I usually find the most serene place in my home to concentrate on my writing. No disturbances, or anyone to interrupt me. Most of the time I write in my room. I have Gucci Mane and Moneybagg Yo playing on Pandora in the background, a large cup of ice water or maybe some red wine. I like to prop my back up against the headboard of the bed and have a few pillows to aid my back, with at least three blankets covering my legs. I …show more content…

Trying to gather all my thoughts and put them on paper isn’t the easiest thing for me to do. That is part of the reason I bullet point my ideas before getting started. Once I have all my thoughts and ideas written on paper, I go through and see what could be added or taken away. I do this on a separate sheet of paper and incorporate it into my draft some way. Once my draft is complete I’ll type it up on Microsoft word. After typed and printed. I do more editing to perfect it. I go back in and see if I missed any quotations, commas, or periods. Once complete I’ll print my final completed
