He actually began his freshman year of college at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. It was in 2001 when the university awarded him a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel Design and Merchandising. He then immediately broke into the fashion industry in Atlanta, Georgia after completing his undergraduate studies by working as an intern at Wilbourn Exclusives in 2001 and then becoming a Fashion Stylist in the music industry in 2002. He did audition for the second season of Project Runway in 2005, however, he was not accepted as a season two contestant. Later in 2006, he again re-auditioned for Project Runway and this time he ended up as a contestant for season three. Mychael Knight not only got into the show but won the very season which was amazing. He introduced his own label Mychael Knight in 2007 on BET 's Rip the Runway and also designed a line of custom tees for the Starbucks Corporation. Similarly, in 2008, he launched Kitty & Dick which was a female and male lingerie label and his unisex fragrance MajK. Unfortunately, his fame did not last very long as Mychael Knight died on October 17, 2017, at the age of 39 which was very tragic and saddening.
