Now as I’ve been agreeing with all the test’s results and their meanings behind them, there is something that Ms. Kendra Cherry speaks of that I don’t agree with, and that is some of her career choices for ISFJ people. Now she does gives an examples of some that are good choices such as a bookkeeper, banker, and an accountant, she thinks that some of the best career choices for people with the personality type are social worker, counselor, teacher, etc. The reason why I disagree with her choices is that I feel that her choices don’t go well with people who have the ISFJ type of personality. According to the TypeFocus personality assessment, my Myers-Briggs personality type is INTP. The letter I means that I am more introverted and focus more energy on thinking about the inner world.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an important look at the methods humans use in our interaction with our shared environments and how we relate differently to shared experiences (Cohen, D., Cohen M., Cross, H., 1981). Differences in how individuals relate to and understand our surroundings are displayed and sorted using scales for several fields. Extroversion and introversion are determined and assigned to this indicator using either E or I. A clear definition between sensing and intuition is also defined by the assignment of S or N. Also, thinking and feeling are compared and determined adding the letters of either T or F to the result. The last letter in ones conformed profile will include either J or P for judging compared to perception.
According to the StrengthsFinder survey, my top five signature strengths/themes are: Ideation, Adaptability, Deliberative, Activator, and Command (StrengthsFinder, 2015). Admittedly, the level of accuracy in which the survey was able to identify some of my traits was surprising. However, these are traits I have been aware of and developed over the years from childhood to present day, but have not had them in such a format that adds context. The survey results were right about me taking one day at a time – I do not worrying about things such as legacy, long term career goals, and what people think of me – Adaptability.
Recently I took the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, I was giver the result of ISTJ (Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging) (Jung Typology Test). The result given to me is something that I would agree with. The careers that were given to me through the test ,however, is something I would not agree with. Things such as Store Manager and Dental Assistant are careers I could not picture myself doing.
Watson from Sherlock had the ISFJ personality type also. People believe ISFJs are the backbone of the workforce. The suited careers for ISFJs would be jobs with history behind them, such as medicine or academics. I can also relate to the fact that people with my personality type like to do behind the scenes work and stay under the radar, but still be appreciated for the work and effort put into it. Something new I learned about myself was that being to nice and selfless can be one of my weaknesses and allow people to walk all over me.
After taking the personality test, it was revealed that I am a INFJ, noted as “The Protector” (Jung Typology Test, n.d.). The two letter temperament score I received was a NF or “Idealist,” “Counselor” (The Personality Page, n.d.). I – Introverted For this personality type, introverted is someone who is “meditative and reflective” (Kroeger, 2002) and “thinks through a problem so we understand it” (The Personality Page, n.d.).
The Meyers-Brigg Type Indicator gave me the personality type INFJ for the Major and Career Development class. When I took the test at the beginning of the semester for my freshmen seminar, I got ISFJ. While I got different scores from the two times, the tests were both accurate and can tell me the same overall results. The first time I took the test, I was only an S by one point, 14 for sensing versus 13 for intuition.
There are many different aspects to consider when an individual is trying to see what career best suits them and who they are as a person. Some people are very strong and confident in who they are and what aspirations they want to see accomplished in their lives. Others are not so sure of themselves or have no direction in where they would like to see themselves after high school or college. In these extreme cases, one concept that people use that assist individuals in finding themselves and what they want to do with their life is by taking the Myers Briggs assessment. I took the Myers Briggs test and found it extremely interesting due to the personality traits that were given to me.
In the history of the events which modified the face of Europe around the 1400-1500 century, there was a striking change that occurred distinguishing two interlocking developments. During the last decades of the fifteenth century, European state systems such as England, France and Italy had attained national unification under strong monarchies and the papacy. The term Renaissance refers to an Italian phenomenon which is the essence of humanism; which is the discovery of man and his potential.
Having done prior assessments and analyzed only strengthens the argument that I possess the attributes of the Enterprising, Conventional, and Social themes based on the skills and values defining them. Last semester I was able to complete the Myer Briggs Assessment to find that I am an ENTJ personality type. The assessment indicated I possess the personality type described as “Extraverted Thinking with Introverted Intuition” similar to the SII Assessment. Life experience I’ve had that included the skills detailed in Enterprising, Conventional, and Social themes provided information allowing me to concur with the findings of this assessment. The occupation themes and interest do not surprise me because I have researched or worked in similar positions or concentrations.
