Summer is often called the peaceful era in childhood. “The flowers”, by Alice Walker shows how a young girl lives in the innocence of a child. Walkers use of colorful imagery and several powerful symbols, describes how the little girl loses her innocence. Myop was once a pure and innocent child. She lived in the world not knowing the threats around her. Her unawareness of growing up and seeing the dangers of the world will ultimately cause her innocence to be lost forever.
