Everything the living have is based on what the dead have given. Death is only the end of a person’s being, life continues on in memories from those left behind. The myth implies that as long as the deceased is loved the person will continue to to live on. The First Mother’s Flesh is described as “ sweet beyond words” and is represented by corn.
