There are many complications that coincide with the wound healing process. This leads to increased rates of hospitalization, increased cost of healthcare, and decreased quality of life (Cutroneo, 2008). There are many treatments out there to heal wounds effectively or to deal with non-healing wounds. One way to improve outcomes, is by using gene therapy.

Coming in with this knowledge I am now aware of what to focus one when we cover wound care within the program. For example why dress a wound with medihoney versus hydrofera blue. It is a realm within physical therapy that I am highly interested in and will likely gain certification in the near future.
After reviewing the PTA National Standards for Family-School Partnerships Assessment Guide, it is clear that multiple items in my Community & Family Engagement Inventory reflect effective examples of the various essential features included in the PTA Standards. Strengths and weaknesses of specific initiatives become more easily recognized after reviewing the standards as well.
