The importance of names go way beyond the person or group in which they are given to. If you think about it, names are not only given to babies when they are born; they are given to our pets or animals, societal groups or cultures, and even material things. Without names, everything would seem meaningless. For example, a person would simply be a he or she, a dog would just be a dog and a car would have no unique identity. Life as we know it, would convey the impression of a very dull and empty reality.
An identity can be formed through many different experiences.
