The book Mosquitoland is about a troublesome young teenage girl who has a lot of family issues and was written by David Arnold. It was written in first person point of view by a sixteen year old named Mary Iris Malone or Mim Malone for short. The book starts off with Mary living with her father and new stepmother after her parent’s divorce. As a teenager, these major life changes do affect your behavior and emotions big time! Shortly after her parents split, Mim finds out that her mother is sick.
In paragraph 31, her mom asked her to make friends, but the daughter doesn’t see the point of it. She says she never has time for friends. She also tells mother that they have to move every few months so there's no point. Some more evidence is found in paragraph 24 when she doesn’t want to stay in New Mexico for the summer. The daughter feels like it's a world away from California.

In “Only Daughter” by Sandra Cisneros, she describes a series of events throughout her life that all relate to her relationship with her father. Cisneros begins her story by talking about how she was seen as “only a daughter”. She then transitions to talking about her education and her father’s opinion on what it is for and worth. Cisneros then ends it with a conclusion between her and her father which involved one of her stories. Throughout the story, Cisneros talks about what she believed her father thought about her and her career choices, and they turn out to be a bit different than what she thought.
