Kent State Massacre Devastates Community "For the past ten years I have devoted myself to presenting people with the facts. What happened here was unforgivable, and the facts prove this."(“The). This was a quote was said by Alan Canfora who was a survivor. Alan was shot on May 4th, 1970 at the Kent State massacre("The). The Ohio National Guard came to Kent State University because the students there were holding an anti-war rally(PUBLISHED).
In 1913-1914, miners in Southern Colorado, aggravated by low pay, bad working conditions, and an abusive system, voted to stop working and strike. The Colorado Coal Strikers of 1913-1914 endured harsh living conditions, disease, and oppression in order to better their lives. To resume work, the Rockefellers, who owned the mines, hired gunmen to compel miners to stop the strike, accept poor lifestyles, and get back to work. One of the major events of this strike was the The Ludlow Massacre, where miners and their families were massacred in a garish show of power. The Ludlow Massacre was the Rockefellers’ doing.

U.S. soldiers are trained to follow orders, which is exactly what they did as hundreds of villagers were indiscriminately killed in the My Lai Massacre. Even if the soldiers were acting under confusing orders, that is a failure of the chain of command, and even if the killings were orchestrated by a few incompetent officers, those officers never should have been placed in leadership roles. The real tragedy of My Lai represents an entire system of willful negligence and lack of accountability on the part of the military. Thus the responsibility for the massacre lies with the men involved, but also with the military chain of command that gave the order and then tried to cover it up.

April 16, 2007, started as a normal day. Virginia Tech students rushed to their classrooms to avoid being late, but little did they know the tragedy that was going to take place that dreadful day. Shortly after 10:00am 32 students lives had been taken by one of their fellow classmates. After the shooter ruthlessly shot and killed each one, he took his own life. April 16 will forever be recognized as a day of mourning and remembrance, but also as a day where we come together as a nation and overcome the defying odds we were left with.
Rosewood Massacre: A Race Riot In America In the first week of January in 1923 a racially motivated riot occurred int he small town of Rosewood, Florida. This riot escalated into a violent massacre that slaughtered many African Americans as well as Caucasians and lead to the demise of the entire town that had been established. This event became to be known as one several race riots that occurred in the United States of America during the early twentieth century. The events prior to the Rosewood Massacre, including the origins of the town, the massacre itself and the issues and events that were sub sequential to this catastrophic event all played a major role in the history of African Americans.
The 18th of November 1978 witnessed a horrible tragedy in the form of the well documented Jonestown massacre, where more than 900 people committed suicide after being directed to do so by their cult leader, Jim Jones. Jones led a cult called the People’s Temple which operated from Jonestown, Guyana. The followers of this cult had different reasons for joining it, but the standout common bond that they all shared was an acceptance to be led by Jim Jones, for whom they demonstrated both love and fear. Jim Jones claimed to be a ‘messiah clad in polyester suits’ capable of playing God while wearing peculiar dark glasses. Jones’ dressing demeanor led to his ardent followers into believing that indeed, he was omniscient, and they labelled him ‘Father’.
They would rape the women from the age of 8 to older than 70. If they found anyone with their family they would make members of the family do horrible things to other family members, just to tear the family apart before killing them. Organization was used, as groups of Japanese soldiers would gather and go on mass killing sprees. Polarization was not used, because all of the Japanese already hated the Chinese, and they were already separated.(The Nanking Massacre.com) During the stage of preparation, the Japanese transported Chinese soldiers to a remote location on the outskirts of Nanking to be assembled for killing, and after soldiers were gone the Japanese soldiers targeted the citizens. During the Nanking massacre there wasn’t a persecution because the Japanese soldiers would just kill the Chinese people after dehumanizing them, and once they were dead then the Japanese would take what they wanted.
The increased migration of African-Americans to northern cities because of the decline in agricultural opportunities in the South and later for the war effort caused increased racial tension and riots as the black population had more of a presence in the close proximity of the urban environment. The worst riot during the war was in Detroit during the summer of 1943 where a fight broke out in Belle Isle Park between black and white men. Rumors of the fight and of rape spread and with it the riot did as well lasting for four days with 25 African-Americans and 5 whites dead and two million dollars of property damage occurring. The Rape of Nanking, also known as the Nanking Massacre, was a mass murder and war rape that occurred during the Second Sino-Japanese War, which lasted from 1937-1945. This horrific event took place in the city of Nanking, which was then the capital of China. After the Japanese army captured Nanking in December 1937, they began to commit a series of crimes against the city's citizens. Over several weeks, Japanese soldiers raped, tortured, and murdered about 300,000 Chinese civilians and POWs. Most of the victims were women and children.
The Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre The Saint Valentines Day Massacre took place on February 14, 1929. Four unknown hitmen disguised as police officers walked into the notorious gangster, Bug Moran’s headquarters on North Clark Street in Chicago, Illinois. The hitmen lined Moran’s gang members against the wall in a firing squad execution manner.
