Making History It was a dreary Friday for the Conroe High baseball team. After a devastating loss to Montgomery the Tuesday before, none of us were looking forward to tonight's game against College Park. It was evident that Conroe had never beaten College Park because they reminded us every time we played them. I managed to sneak through the day without getting much done by just being quiet in class due to my longing for the weekend to come. When seventh period rolled around the mood was not pleasant. We stood around not conversing very much even though we all wanted to say something about our playoff chances being eliminated. Eventually our coach came and addressed the elephant in the room, but wanted to make sure that even though this wouldn’t …show more content…
Surprisingly enough, this idea of being the first team to beat College Park seemed to raise our spirits and give us the drive to play this game like we still had a chance for the playoffs. The arrival of the JV and Sophomore teams gave us something to watch until it was our time to go. Our coach shuffled to the mound to meet Marshall and the next thing I knew, I was being called into pitch. My heart started pounding despite knowing that this could happen all along. I warmed up on the mound with about 8 pitches, then the umpire asked if I was
