Tittle It was a cloudy, overcast afternoon as my team and I were heading to the long awaited state AAU volleyball tournament. The tournament was held in the big, but mostly rural, town of Ankeny, Iowa. Getting down there was an adventure in itself. We had a lot of team bonding time on the way down, and after three hours on a long, winding road we finally arrived. As we approached the motel, it reminded us of a scary Halloween mansion. Although our rooms were nice, they all had the smell of stale cigarette smoke. There was eight of us and as soon as we got to our rooms we all changed into shorts and T-shirts. The parents had brought some candy for us so we all ate some and by the time it was gone we all were very hyper. By the time we all had to go back to our rooms we all looked tired but yet still looked ready to go. It was 6:30 A.M. in the morning on game day. We all went down to the small lobby to get some breakfast. All of us look so tired probably from the night before. There selection of breakfast was very limited so we didn't get or eat much. After that we got into our orange, black, and white painted vehicles. Most of the team feel asleep on the car ride to the tournament mostly because it seemed as long as the pacific ocean. As we get there and everyone gets out of the car its about 7:15 A.M. We get into the gym and get our stuff on. Everyone is looking pretty tired as the other teams are full of excitement. RIght before our game coach says, “Everyone needs to get it togther and go 100% all of the time. “ and we respond by saying, “Coach, we can do this! “ We get on the court to play our first game we are looking a little better than before but not much. Our warm up went okay I thought we could have done better built was definitely not our worst
