Canoeing Catastrophe “This will be super fun.” That is what my dad said right before we went on the canoeing trip he had planned for my cousins and me. He couldn’t have been further from the truth. It all started in the morning on that fateful Monday. My dad and mom were in the kitchen with my grandma and grandpa talking about the newspaper lying on the table in front of them. I walked in letting the smell of oatmeal and bacon fill my nostrils. I told them good morning and then proceeded to make and eat my breakfast. After we got in the vehicle we drove for around thirty minutes, and I sat watching the scenery go by. The green trees seemed to fly by at the speed of light as I looked out my window. As the time past, I made another mistake and started daydreaming about all these amazing possibilities that could happen on our canoe trip. Finally, we got to the canoe rental place. My parents went to the registration desk to rent the canoes. The rest of us stayed in the parking lot by the van. We all started to get sweaty as we stood out in the blazing sun waiting for my parents to return. The stones on the ground that made up the driveway and parking lot began to get in my shoes. While we waited every once in a while the wind would blow and it would feel amazing on our skin. After they paid for the canoes a man came back with a big white van with five canoes being towed behind it. We raced to get in the van to get the best seats, an off we went for another ten minutes.
