The first time I went hunting with my brothers Have you ever had the thrill of shooting something for the first time? Some people might not be able to relate some might be able to and if you can relate you know what I’m talking about. The excitement of going hunting with my two older brothers, I’d thought I would never shoot anything, and then I saw my opportunity You might think it’s a little insane to wake up at 4:30 AM adventure into the woods and get bit by bugs and get dirty. But it’s what you have to do if you want to hunt you got to get there before others do and before the turkeys wake up you have to find a spot to sit at and wait and call them with a turkey call. Bubba uses the turkey call about six times and we get responses, but no movement so Bubba try’s again, but this time he acts like a hen in distress begging for help and still no movement or anything so I slowly start to move up. Bubba calls over the walkie-talkie and asked me “what are you doing” and I explained to him that “my 4-10 single shot wouldn’t hit compared to hit 12 gauge pump action with slug rounds.” I look to see if my gun was loaded because I didn’t want a repeat of the last time. And nope, it wasn’t so I threw a 6 ball, shell in the barrel and counted to move ahead. Bubba told me “if I miss or scare them away that we were leaving” and I said “ok” and turned off my walkie-talkie and continued and I was walking for about 10 minutes I noticed a snake 5 feet from my foot I froze in fear. I broke off the nearest tree branch and picked up the snake and threw it as far as I could and continued to walk I was about 10 feet from the turkeys. I got worried because the turkey were all grouped up it was risky, I was only 15 which meant I could only kill two or three turkey a day. And then I said ‘it’s now or never, and threw up my gun and pulled the trigger and dropped three of turkey and I noticed one last turkey that was hurt trying to escape. I reloaded as quick as I possibly could, then I shot the last turkey also I got four out of ten and I said to myself four out of ten and I started to smile and I turned on the walkie-talkie to hear my brothers talking about meeting me back at the truck so I grabbed my hard earned reward and went on my way back to the
