My Pursuit

A ten year old girl sat in the stands of a Butte College graduation watching all of the beaming smiles in gowns. There was an announcement of all the young people that would be graduating that year, some as young as 17 or 18. As soon as she heard about all of these opportunities, that young girl knew she wanted to be able to reach them in her pursuit of education. As one could assume, that little girl was myself and I am still star-eyed over education. My sophomore when College Connection was being presented to the then Juniors, I developed a passion for the idea and began planning for this opportunity even then. I have been an extremely active member in our FFA chapter, I was 2014-2015 Vice President of our chapter and the 2015-2016 President. These academic and extracurricular challenges have pushed me to limits that I did not even know I had and I realized in my years at Orland High that I love to be stressed and overcome my stressors. My mother is going back to college after years and she shares all of her experiences and some knowledge with me, because of this I already have a small grasp on how challenging college courses can be and how ruthless some professors can be. My reason for leaving my high school and moving to Butte College is not because of OHS, it is because I want to push myself and this is the perfect chance for me to. I feel as though I am ready to be challenged intellectually and socially in a way that my small high school is not doing already. This adds to my readiness for this program because I am not leaving for immature reasons, such as to escape drama or meet cute college boys (haha!), but to persist in my pursuit of education and experiences while testing myself. I am very excited for this event to push myself and develop who I am as a person while preparing me to go to UC Berkeley and become a political analysis. I urge the admissions committee for College Connection to choose me for this amazing experience because I will make the best of
