COMMITMENT TO CHRIST Background I was brought up in a concept of fame and success to be the purpose of life. While I worked my way out of the rigid Asia educational system, I thought I was doing ok. Nine years ago, I was told the chance of coming to the U.S. for college education. For many people, that is once in a life opportunity. I viewed that chance as the answer to my desire for personal accomplishment and a success future. Little that I knew, there is something bigger awaiting me ahead. My grandfather was a Buddhist priest; therefore, we do what every other families around do, worship various gods from one temple to another. I read many stories about how sins affect our afterlife. New language, new major, new culture, and new faith; everything was new to me. I struggled through ESL courses and moved into first semester major courses as an art student. I had never taken an official art class before then; therefore, even though I was often the last one to leave the practice room, I was still the weakest student among others. Even though the starting seems rough, I was glad for where I was. I learned to be content how much I could understand and achieve academically and beyond in each stage of my growth. God brought many His people into my life to teach me Who He is and to grow knowing my relationship in Him. One week after the other, I learned about how to start reading the Bible, how to pray, and why to gather around as a body of Christ.
